Police dismantled a pro-Palestinian tent encampment at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology early Friday and moved to clear protesters from University of Pennsylvania’s campus in Philadelphia, hours after police tear-gassed protesters and took down an encampment at the University of Arizona.

D.C. police broke apart a pro-Palestinian demonstration on the George Washington University campus overnight just one day after they clashed with protesters and made dozens of arrests as they cleared a tent encampment that had been in place for two weeks.

The move came a day after Gov. Josh Shapiro said it was “past time” to end the standoff on the campus in Philadelphia.
